Jana was born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia. She migrated to Christiansburg, Virginia, in 1994 after graduating from Liberty University and marrying Pat Rakes. (whom she met in a country-western bar; he was listening to the perfect country-western song, and she was wishing she could hear some Bon Jovi… but still their love blossomed).
The years passed quickly, and Jana and Pat soon had four beautiful children. (Sydney, Sophie, Patrick, & Davis ) When Jana is not guiding one of her four children through the peaks and valleys of young adulthood, she can be found enjoying long walks and talks with neighbors and friends in the beautiful surroundings of her home in Botetourt County. She is an active member of her church, and community. Jana enjoys taking care of her “people”. She strives to make sure they all have what they need, and that no need goes unnoticed. One of her favorite people is her next door neighbor, Virginia Rakes, the GOAT (greatest of all times) mother- in-law!
Jana’s gift for taking care of people doesn’t stop at her home, her church, or even her community, it carries over into everything she does, especially into her role at Ideal Cabinets. While the pursuit of her degrees and professional quests were geared toward education, Jana has enjoyed being an active part of Ideal cabinets and their custom design kitchen cabinet business for the last 30 years.
Jana enjoys taking care of the “ Ideal Family”. She has been known to cook Thanksgiving dinner for the staff, give an ice cream party with lots and lots of sprinkles, and of course give amazing theme parties. No staff anniversary or birthday goes unnoticed with Jana on the job.
Jana says she loves being an ambassador for Ideal Cabinets by connecting with its staff and local communities. Even though she was introduced to the cabinetry business through marriage to Pat, she has come to value the specialized customer service offered by Ideal. Jana says, “Clients have plenty of places to buy cabinetry and seek remodeling services. But those that recognize the value of experience and expertise that backs the product and process are the Ideal customer base. I’m proud to be a part of the Ideal Cabinets family… literally!” And what a great family to be a part of, they are “Ideal” after all.
