Dedication of the Newest Home for Good by Habitat for Humanity and WSLS

In August, Ideal Cabinets joined forces with Habitat for Humanity and WSLS’s Home for Good program to help “Raise the Wall” !  At the Wall Raising ceremony, we celebrated the start of a brand-new home that would soon house a deserving family from our community.  Just a few months later, we had the honor of going back to this home and spending a day hanging drywall in the very room where we were recently raising the wall.  Then last week, the frigid January weather could not keep us from going back once more, as the finished home was dedicated to its new owner.

We stood alongside many other sponsors who offered their time and resources to make this dream home a reality for the young family.  Joining us at the celebration were Roanoke’s new Mayor, Joe Cobb and WSLS’s John Carlin, who had the honor of presenting the keys to a grateful mom and her daughter. The excitement and gratitude of the new homeowner as she cut the ribbon in celebration could be felt throughout the crowded streets.

During the dedication, we were able to tour the inside of the house.  The beautiful kitchen cabinetry was already in full use, as lunch was served to all who attended.  Along with being able to furnish the kitchen cabinets, we had the privilege to provide a vanity in each bathroom. It was an incredible blessing to work with WSLS, Habitat for Humanity, and the homeowner to see this dream come full circle.

This was the 10th house built through WSLS’s Home for Good program which began in 2020 and marked Habitat for Humanity’s 293rd home! Ideal Cabinets has had the honor to be part of five of these homes and looks forward to more opportunities in the future.
