Have you ever met someone, and you just knew that they had a special gift ? Roger Rhodes is one of those people. Some people need to brag and tell you how good they are at their craft, Roger doesn’t do that. His quiet demeanor, and confidence in his work speak volumes.
Roger is a Master Craftsman, and a quiet diplomat. He spent the last 45 years working for a family-owned custom cabinet maker. It was his first job out of high school, and he held just about every position within the company over the years. One of Roger’s favorite aspects of the job was visiting customers and designing, making, and installing a one-of-a-kind custom piece to fit their needs. Since Roger has been at Ideal, we have given him the reins of our Salem shop, and he has led our team of excellent craftsmen to build masterpieces for our residential and commercial lines of cabinetry. Roger takes great pride in making certain that our clients are happy, and that the product is expertly crafted according to Ideal’s high standards and of course to his standards.
Roger grew up in Botetourt County, and graduated from Lord Botetourt High School. Go Cavs! Until recently, in addition to his full-time cabinetry position, he was a busy farmer. He had 60 head of cattle on 100 acres of farmland which he cared for independently. He took care of the farm and the animals after work every day. In the past few years, he downsized to a dozen cattle and selling hay. He loves his land and home where he lives with his wife, Melissa (“Lisa”) who he met when she worked with him as a cabinet finisher. He enjoys all things outdoors including hunting and fishing. When asked about retirement, he said he has already created the life he hopes to continue to live in the years ahead.
We hope that Roger is with us at Ideal for many years. We are proud of the leadership and direction he brings to our Salem shop, and we are thankful to have him as part of our Ideal Family.
